Iditarod Dog Sled Race

Iditarod Sled Dog Race 2009

(March 7 - 18, 2009) Following the Iditarod is an Alaskan adventure that is becoming increasingly popular! You will fly at low altitude over a large part of Alaska. March is the best flying time of the year. Wildlife is more easily seen in snow.

There is a party time atmosphere all along the trail! You will meet fun people from Alaska and from all over the world.

There is time spent at all check points to visit with the mushers, observe their equipment, and watch dog handling techniques. Every team has a special personality.

The price for year 2009 starts at $8800 each with 2 people. This includes all flying, guiding, lodging, and meals. I have arranged the best accommodations available from Anchorage to Nome. The race dates for 2009 are March 7-18 or whenever the leaders get into Nome. We can do an extra trip to a special Eskimo village if you want and weather permits.

You can return to Anchorage with me March 18. The mushers banquet in Nome is March 21. There is jet service to Anchorage from Nome. Lodging in Anchorage is not included. The race leaves Anchorage March 7, and there is a "restart" from Wasilla March 8. We fly to our first lodge the pm of March 9. I will escort you the whole time, and share stories of 40 years of safe flying around Alaska! The airplane that is most commonly used is a Cessna 185 on wheel skies.
